Antimicrobial activity and Characterization of Marine bacteria in Coastal sea water
نویسندگان
چکیده
Coastal seawater samples were collected from Rameswaram, Ramanathapuram District. Twenty five bacteria were isolated and identified according to morphology, biochemical tests and selective growth media. The active marine bacteria isolates were assigned to the genera Alteromonas, Pseudomonas, Bacillus and Pseudoalteromonas sp. The TLC autobiographic overlay assay implied that the antimicrobial metabolites produced by four strains with wide antimicrobial spectrum were different. The isolates were tested for antimicrobial activity against the test organisms of Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes and Streptococcus mutans. Only 2 isolates of MB11 and MB17 showed clean growth inhibition zone against test organisms. These marine bacteria were identified and expected to be potential resources of natural antibiotic products.

Isolation, identification and characterization of new luminous bacteria from Chah Bahar Port, southern marine habitat of Iran
Coastal region of Chah Bahar port, Sea of Oman, was screened for the presence of bioluminescence bacteria for the first time. Water samples were taken from surface and subsurface layers and immediately spread on nutrient seawater complete (SWC) agar. Luminous colonies were observed after an overnight incubation at 25°C. Among twenty luminous isolates, four of them were selected for preliminary ...

Marine bacteria were isolated from seawater was collected from different coastal areas of the Tamilnadu Sea. The antimicrobial activities of these bacteria were investigated. Ethyl acetate extracts of marine bacterial fermentation were screened for antimicrobial activities using the method of agar diffusion. The results showed that 25 strains of the isolates have antimicrobial activity. The pro...
متن کاملMarine Actinomycetes with Probiotic Potential and Bioactivity Against Multidrug-resistant Bacteria
Considering antimicrobial resistance problem, marine microorganisms with the bioactivity against multi-drug resistant (MDR) pathogens have attracted many scientific interests. To address this issue, a total of 21 marine actinomycetes isolated from the Caspian Sea have been screened out. Primary screening via cross-streak method revealed that 3 strains: MN2, MN39, and MN40 produce antimicrobial ...
متن کاملIsolation of ASR7 Actinomycete Isolated from S12 Demospongia Marine Sponge and Study of Its Antibacterial Activity
Background and Aims: Marine Actinomycetes are gram-positive bacteria that sometimes are free, saprophytic or plant and animal-associated, including marine sponges. More than 75% of antibiotics and antimicrobial compounds are produced by actinomycetes. In recent years, due to the need for new drugs, marine microorganisms have been considered as new sources of potential production of significant ...
